Privacy Policy
Last updated 11 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data Cross Cross Play collects, why, and what you can do about it. We have kept it short and plain.
Who we are
Cross Cross Play is a tennis video analysis app run from the United Kingdom. We are the data controller for your personal data. For any privacy question or request, email cross22play@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your Google account ID.
- Your tennis profile: self-rated level, handedness, goals, focus areas and any official ratings you add (such as WTN, UTR or NTRP).
- Uploaded videos of you playing tennis.
- Analysis results: scores, notes, drills and gear suggestions generated from your videos.
- Feedback you send us, and an email address if you choose to give one.
- Coach data: coach profiles (name, club, location, bio), coach links, coach comments and assigned drills.
- Payment records: if paid coaching is switched on, a record of what was paid, when and to whom. Card details are handled by the payment provider and never reach us.
- Age confirmation: the date you confirmed you are 18 or over and accepted our Terms.
Why we use it and our lawful basis
We use your data to provide the service you ask for: analysing your videos, saving your results and tracking your progress. Our lawful basis is performance of a contract (providing the service). We use feedback to improve the app, on the basis of our legitimate interests. We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.
AI processing by Google
Your videos are sent to Google's Gemini AI to produce the analysis. Google acts as our data processor and only processes the video to return the analysis to us. We use Google's paid API, under which your videos and prompts are not used to train AI models. Google keeps only a temporary copy, which we delete straight after each analysis.
Coaches
If you accept a coach's invite, that coach can see your username, rating, streak, analyses, scores, coaching summaries and progress, and watch your stored videos. They can't see your email, friends or feedback you send us. Coaches can comment on your analyses, edit your top fixes, assign drills and send you lesson reports; their comments are used to guide your future analyses. You can remove a coach at any time in Settings, which ends their access immediately. Coaches act on your instruction; our lawful basis is performing the service you asked for.
When linking a coach you can choose to let us use your coach's agree/disagree marks on AI notes to improve the app. This is optional and off by default.
Coaching under-18s isn't supported.
Where your data is stored
Your account, results and videos are stored with our hosting provider in the EU (Ireland, eu-west-1). Google may process videos in its own data centres, under its data processing terms and the UK's approved transfer safeguards.
How long we keep it
- Videos and analyses are kept until you delete them, so you can rewatch them and track your progress. You can delete a single video, a session, all your videos (keeping your analyses) or your whole account in Settings. Deletion is permanent and happens straight away.
- Inactive accounts: if you don't sign in for 24 months, we'll email you before anything happens. We won't delete anything without sending at least two warning emails over at least 30 days.
- Deleting your account removes your account, profile, ratings, analyses, videos, feedback and coach links.
- Our daily database backups are kept for up to 14 days, so deleted data disappears from backups within that time.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can:
- Access and export your data. Use "Download my data" in Settings, which includes your profile, analyses, coaching summaries and links to your stored videos.
- Correct your data, for example by updating your rating in Settings.
- Delete a video, a session, all your videos or your whole account from Settings.
- Object to or restrict how we use your data.
You can do most of this in the app. You can also email cross22play@gmail.com and we'll respond within one month.
- Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. We'd appreciate the chance to help first.
Age
Cross Cross Play is only for people aged 18 and over. Don't upload videos of anyone under 18. If our AI spots a player who appears to be a child, it stops the analysis.
Cookies
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, so we don't need a cookie banner. For visitor statistics we use Plausible, a cookieless service that counts visits and a few actions (sign-ups, analyses, shares) without identifying you or storing anything on your device. Everything we store in your browser is essential to make the app work:
- Sign-in session (local storage, named after our login service): keeps you signed in. Removed when you sign out.
- ccp:age-ok (local storage): remembers you confirmed you're 18 or over.
- ccp:facts-seen (local storage): remembers which tennis facts you've seen so they don't repeat.
- ccp:after-auth (session storage): the page to return you to after signing in. Cleared when you close the tab.
- ccp:last-result (session storage): your latest result, so it shows straight after analysis. Cleared when you close the tab.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and let you know in the app.
